TopCat's Stores
TopCat’s is the flagship Exxon convenience store of Lewis Oil Company, Inc. The store was first acquired in 1990 and has undergone significant renovations and additions that has earned the rating of ExxonMobil Hot Store. TopCat’s is located on Highway 441 South (the four lane between Cherokee, NC and Atlanta, GA) outside of Sylva and Dillsboro, North Carolina. It makes for a great stop for tourists and leaf-lookers heading to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Western Carolina University, or into downtown Sylva for shopping. It’s definitely a staple for locals. The name TopCat’s comes from the nickname given to T. C. Lewis (founder) during his service in the U.S. Air Force. The store serves all grades of Exxon fuels, On and Off-Road Diesel Fuel, and Kerosene on-site.
Inside TopCat’s, you’ll find a general-type store that carries souvenirs for the Great Smoky Mountains, snacks, drinks, and the usual conveniences of a convenience store. TopCat’s stands out when you consider it is a licensed dealer of Case Knives, KrispyKreme doughnuts, Purina feeds, Wrangler clothing, and more. There is a fully-stocked hardware, plumbing, and electrical supply section, along with a section for small (dogs, cats, etc.) and large animal (horses, cattle, etc.) supply and vaccinations, as well as all types of seeding and fertilizers (by bag or in bulk). In the supply yard, clients can purchase all types of fencing and supplies, large animal feeding equipment, and more.
Just opened in 2010, the restaurant inside TopCat’s might be the best addition yet. AlleyCat’s has standard menu items and daily specials cooked to order. There is a flat screen television to catch up on weather forecasts and sports scores, hand-dipped ice cream for desert, and WiFi access for business folks on the go.
